How to bring a Christmassy feel to your bathroom space

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of getting your home properly festive, from your living room to your kitchen to your designer bathroom. Swap your bathroom accessories for festive variations

There’s no shortage of opportunities for you to switch your normal bathroom accessories for more festive variations. One idea is to start with your towels – you might choose white towels with a Christmassy pattern like a snowflake for example, or co-ordinate different towels in red, green and yellow or gold for a cheery festive effect.

If you’ve got children, you could even switch out seasonal bath toys such as rubber ducks (or even if you haven’t got children, we’re not here to judge). There are lots of little ducks available at this time of year with Santa hats and present bags – and don’t forget you can always switch to seasonal versions of your normal toiletries, like soaps, bath salts and perfumes with different scents. Indulge in Christmas scents

Everyone loves a fresh smelling bathroom – and we’ve all got our own ways of maintaining the fragrances we like in ours. Lots of people like to use air fresheners, but if you’re planning on having guests over for Christmas, it’s always worth going the extra mile to impress with something like a luxury scented candle. (It also looks very classy!) Good quality candles or incense sticks aren’t difficult to find, and it’s worth considering certain festive scents like pine, cinnamon, cranberries or spices.

Look at everything in a new light for winter

As we’ve touched on plenty of times in our previous posts here at NPM, the type of light in your bathroom can make a massive difference to its general appearance and atmosphere. If you prefer the type of Christmas that’s quiet, reserved and sophisticated for example, then you might want to think about a row of flickering candle lights. If you prefer something a bit more fun and cheerier for your festive season on the other hand, you might want to consider stringing some colourful fairy lights across your bathroom.

If you’re thinking of something that bridges the gap between those two options though, a novelty lamp (or any small light with a warm colour) can strike a beautiful balance between the two. We should say though of course, safety is always paramount – make sure not to get any cables wet, and don’t leave candles unattended!

And of course, there are all the traditional Christmas additions to consider. If you spot any gaps on your shelves or windowsills for example, they could make a good place for a miniature Christmas tree, or similar festive ornaments. You could also hang a wreath on your door or bathroom wall, or adorn the handles of your vanity cabinets with small baubles.
