The top 4 bathroom trends that have dominated 2022

Here at NPM Bathrooms, we’ve had quite the year so far helping our clients realise their personal visions for their bathrooms and wet rooms! We’ve fulfilled a range of requests from sleek and modern, to bold designs with a hint of classical elements. So, with winter fast approaching, it’s time we took a fond look back at a few of the most popular bathroom design schemes that have captured the hearts and minds of the UK throughout 2022.

Natural spa-like spaces

This has been the most popular bathroom style of the year by far. The look makes use of smooth surfaces, a muted colour palette and minimalist features to create a serene, tranquil space for you to enjoy. Picture large slabs of monochromatic stone, light wooden features and a warm lighting scheme to emphasise the natural look and feel of the space. It’s a great way of bringing that spa-day feel to your bathroom space, regardless of size. Plus, this kind of scheme works particularly well in wet rooms.

Bringing the outdoors to your indoors

‘Biophillic design’ has been another one of the most dominant trends for bathroom aesthetic over the year. If you’re not sure what ‘biophillic design’ entails, it’s essentially a practice that centres around the human connection to nature, whereby the bathroom is decorated with greenery and plant life to bring a natural look and feel to the space. It’s easy to see why this has become quite so popular – plants are aesthetically pleasing, create a calming environment, and can purify the air within your bathroom space.

Wet rooms and free standing tubs

This is where we come into our element here at NPM Bathrooms –  a wet room is essentially a stylish, sleek variation of a walk-in shower. Thanks to recent innovations in manufacturing and design, wet rooms are currently enjoying a resurgence in the UK, and an increasingly popular choice with many of our own customers. Plus, we work with market leading brands such as Merlin and Aquadart, allowing us to source and supply consistently high-quality wet rooms.

Ultra-minimalistic and modern, the design precludes the need for bath mats, glass doors or shower screens, giving you the freedom to place your bath wherever you choose!

Warm, earthy tones

As you’ve probably guessed by now, nature has been the main inspiration of bathroom design in 2022. The pendulum has definitely swung away from cooler grey pallets, towards warmer, neutral tones like beige and nude. Cream, taupe and sienna colours, fabrics, along with textured wall coverings and glossy bathroom tiles have all been in high demand with people looking to imbue this delightfully subdued scheme within their bathroom space. We love this kind of scheme here at NPM Bathrooms, so we hope it carries on well into 2023 and beyond!

Of course, if you’re thinking of updating your bathroom design, we’ll be here to guide you through every step of the process here at NPM Bathrooms.
